This new song just makes me smile.
The sky is threatening
Bad weather is in the air
And you always liked that
Excitement is everywhere
And you always write me
When a storm system is in the news
And send me a link
Now all I got is the blues
‘Cause you never call
You never call
You’re in heaven with nothing to do
The ultimate vacation with no back-pain
And all we do is work, work, work
You’re in heaven
We’re working
You’re on vacation
I’m working
I know you’re going to the hockey game
The Red Wings are coming to town
I saw your car in the parking lot
In-N-Out burgers fries all around
And I know Ben is with you
‘Cause you take him everywhere
He brain to brained me
He told me that you are still there
But you never call
You’re in heaven with nothing to do
The ultimate vacation with no back-pain
And all we do is work, work, work
You’re on vacation
We’re working
You’re in heaven
I’m working
And you never call
From the November 24, 1976 concert at the Fox Theater in Atlanta, where, for some reason, he imagined himself talking to the ghost of Judy Garland, it was the final day of the month long tour and after the show Young flew to San Francisco to take part in The Band’s final show at Winterland Ballroom as documented in The Last Waltz.
